When David worked shifts, we tried and make the most of the limited time we had together. Below is a selection of the things we like to do in our spare time.
Some of our hobbies have been given individual pages, others are listed below.
______________________________________________
Destinations: Every year we make the trip to London to see the Daily Telegraph Destinations travel show. We also try to take in a show at one of the theatres at the same time.

______________________________________________
France: At least once a year we nip over to France to restock our wine supply and spend time in one of the restaurants in the old town of Boulogne Sur Mer or at our favourite bar - the Vole Hole.

______________________________________________
Hot tub: Up to three times a week we take our clothes off, don our cozzies and go into the garden - to our hot tub on the terrace. It keeps a constant temperature of 40°C and is a great way to disperse those stresses and strains of everyday life. Highly Recommended!

Photography: With me taking photographs, and David video, of all our travels, we do still have some friends (amazing I hear you say) who actually enjoy coming round to look at our pictures. Occasionally we do slide shows and talks for different organisations.

I use a digital Panasonic Lumix camera these days, having had to ditch all my SLR equipment when I was no longer able to carry it after my neck injury in 1996. It broke my heart at the time, but now, with the onset of digital photography, I find that for what I use my pictures for these days, my bridge camera takes as good photographs as I got from my Canon EOS 5. I also have an Olympus underwater camera for snorkeling and David has a Sony Camcorder (and a Sanyo Xacti for underwater filming).
______________________________________________
Gadgets: We are both gadget freaks and have a house full of useless/useful (whichever way you look at it) equipment, such as this GPS. Some we use a lot, such as the George Foreman Lean Mean Grilling Machine, others become 'white elephants' and take up valuable space in the cupboards.

______________________________________________
Trekking / Walking: We are lucky to live in such a rural place, with the Mendips, Forest of Dean and Brecon Beacons within easy reach. There are some great walks around here!

______________________________________________
Ten Pin Bowling: We both enjoy a game of ten pin bowling from time to time with good friends.

______________________________________________
Fish Keeping: For years we kept tropical fish and would spend a lot of time caring for these quiet unassuming pets.

______________________________________________
Theatre and Concerts: We both really enjoy a night at the theatre or to see a favourite band in concert.

Some of the plays we have enjoyed include:
- Phantom of the Opera
- Cats
- Starlight Express
- Blood Brothers
- Blue Man Group
- Evita
- Mamma Mia
- We will Rock You
- Spamalot
At one time we would regularly see a concert, but these days we don't go quite so often. Below is a selection of performers we've seen live:
- Tina Turner
- Michael Jackson
- Diana Ross
- Fleetwood Mac
- Chris Rea
- David Bowie
- Elton John
- Scissor Sisters
- Hot Chocolate
- David Essex
- Cliff Richard
- Shakira
- Calaisa
- Simply Red

Books: Grete is an avid collector of travel books (as well as cookery books), and the shelves at home are filled to beyond capacity with books on various destinations, geography and history.

______________________________________________
Collectables: Grete also has an impressive collection of miniature bottles. They are mostly full and have been gathered from all over the world.

______________________________________________
Airshows: I know it is not very environmentally friendly, but we both thoroughly enjoy attending airshows.
